All we do is destroy to satify our needs.

I ended up catching the documentary Sharkwater in New York City last night. Being a filmmaker and a scuba diver, this film absolutely amazed me. The underwater cinematography was gorgeous and the film featured a great ambient soundtrack. An extremely informative, well edited documentary.

Through the hardcore scene, I have been exposed to tons of animal rights literature over the years and have made quite a few vegan friends, however, nothing has really served as a wake-up call like Sharkwater has

100 million sharks are killed a year for a multi-billion dollar shark finning industry. Sharks have been around for 450 million years pre-dating the dinosaurs, and now, the Shark population has decreased by 90 percent in the last 100 years. It really puts things into perspective to think that man has nearly wiped out an entire species that has survived five major extinctions and has been around since the dawn of time.

Dining Dead.

0
When I was first dating a girl several years ago, we went out to dinner in New York City. We ate at this Italian restaurant where the table's were spaced literally inches apart from other couples dining in the restaurant. We sat down next to this couple who had obviously been dating for years. They must have spoke 5 words throughout their entire meal. In contrast, inches apart from the silent couple, my date and I carried conversation for a good half-hour as they sat in silence.

It was an interesting parallel to see how two people can initially be so intrigued by one another, yet, a few years down the road that spark can slowly deteriorate. I think we've all been there at one point in our lives, but what will we all do to avoid it?
